Default Average break in period

What has everyone been doing for their break in period because I’m ready to put it to the floor. I think it’s usually like 100 miles or something for most cars. It had 43 miles when I bought it and it’s a lease but still want to take decent care of it. I was just curious what other people are doing. Thanks

I think most people would say it is 1000 miles at least and keep it under 4K rpm on the tach. of course you want to vary speeds. 100 miles is not broken in.

Page 73 of the manual says 1,000 miles. For the first 600 miles you're supposed to run it no more than 2/3 max rpm (roughly 4300 rpm). Then they say to slowly increase rpm and speed between 600 and 1000 miles.

There's a whole debate around this article which touts "Run it Hard." Remember, he's talking about sportsbikes - which may or may not be substantially different from an Audi. I bought mine and chose to go by the book. I did a1000 miles in less than 3 weeks so it was no big deal. It made it very sweet once I felt I had the green light. To each their own.

I have had 7 Audi's in the last 9 years and each was new. I have never had one burn oil and have always choose to ride it aggressive. If you respect the warmup process and very the RPM's for the first few hundred miles you're good. I will start the hard driving part about 4-5 hundred miles in and I have never had an issue.

Beat the crap out of it. I used to flog my 2002 allroad mercilessly. Upstate NY I have the roads and room to do that. At 250k miles (and still with the original turbos) that engine purred like a kitten. It was a mechanical symphony whether it was idling, cruising, or accelerating. Don't get me wrong, I took care of that car with regular service, oil changes and timing belt changes at mfg. recommendations, but these engines are made to run. I would also adhere to the break in limitations, but once that's done, game on!
