Preset buttons for non radio
Hi Everyone!
If I am not mistaken, in Europeans cars, the preset buttons can be used for non-radio presents, such as phone numbers and destinations. Has anyone figured out how to code it for US cars?
TIA

From my owners manual - Shortcut buttons You can program the shortcut buttons to functions which you use regularly (e.g. navigation destination, telephone number, album, play list, TV channel).
To store/reassign a function: Turn the rotary push button to the desired function in a list (e.g. a radio station in the FM station list). Press and hold the desired shortcut button for a few seconds. This will assign the active function to this shortcut button.
Works well as I have two drivers with the Q5. Buttons 1 and 2 are each of our radio stations, buttons 7 and 8 each of our phone numbers (with different paired phones), 3 and 4 are for each others SD card for music and 6 is for our home address for the navigation. Oh and position 5 is for the night's lotto numbers, but this does not appear to work yet.

Lengthy discussion about this in the Q7 forum when the new generation (4M) came out (first model with the new technology). The manual says you can do other functions with the presets (dial contacts, enter nav destinations, etc.), but in actuality that function is available in other parts of the world but not in North American vehicles. Who knows what the rationale is behind that.
I think some guys tried OBDEleven coding - but no success to my knowledge.
