Default Serpentine Belt Conundrum 3.2

Good afternoon,

So I am thoroughly confused regarding what Belt to get for my A6 3.2 Quattro. I usually get Bando, but I ordered the belt both Bando and Amazon recommended which is the Bando 6PK2415 and tried to install it, but it fit loose. I didn't even have to loosen the tensioner to put it into place.

Has anyone run into this? Are there differences from year to year on belt sizing? Any recommended belts for the 2005 C6 3.2?

Thank you!

Why mess around with parts you are certain about? Just get an oem serpentine belt. BTW are you certain the idler and tensioner are in good shape? If not you might want to change them too.

When I did the work on the 4.2, I changed out with oem and am glad I did. Since the the original lasted more than 150k miles!

Well, just seems like a waste. Most after market belts last just as long as OEM and are way cheaper which is important for me right now. The tensiononer and idler pulley seem just fine and the current belt fits snug but is squealing. Just strange the Bando one doesn't fit.

The OEM belt (part 06E903137J) is less than $50, how much money are you really saving? If you consider the fact how long the original belt has held up, $50 is really a paltry amount to pay.

Maybe, but when you are trying to save, every dollar counts. I make a living, but just moved and have a new little one. I just can't justify spending more than double the price for the same product.

It's your money...I always look at a project as to how much I'm going to spend: time, material, and opportunity to cost. If I save $20 on a serpentine belt change, I'll go with OEM all the way, since like I said before, my original lasted 150K miles.

And that makes sense. I'd probably do the same if I wasn't being so cheap, but I don't think brand belts will be any lesser quality. I'm just going to measure the original belt by marking a spot on the belt and table then rolling the belt online the workbench/floor until I get to that mark again. I'll measure the distance between the two lines and I'll know the measurement of the belt for replacement to be sure.
