Default A8 crash test?

I was surprised to learn that in my research of the US and European safety authorities that the D5 and D4 A8's have never been crash tested? Or at least - there is no data for us consumers to peruse? Does anyone have this info?

Pretty sure it doesn't exist. Checked the Monroney sticker for my prior 2011 D4, and there was no crash test data available on it. Seem to recall the same for my 2015 D4.

That is interesting. Audi themselves had to have had a crash test performed.
"The cars are crash tested, but just not by an independent agency, which Euro NCAP, the IIHS and NHTSA are."
I guess they are not required to release the results.

Also found this:
" Luxury cars aren’t typically crash tested by the IIHS, unless the automaker specifically pays for the test. “We try to choose vehicle groups that are the heart of the new vehicle market in the U.S.; the kinds of vehicles that most people buy,” IIHS senior vice president of communications Russ Rader told AutoWeb. "

" “Each year, NHTSA tests a sample of new vehicles predicted to have high sales volume or vehicles that have been structurally redesigned,” according to NHTSA. “Tested vehicles are purchased from dealerships across the country; the vehicles are not supplied directly to NHTSA by the manufacturer, a common misconception.”

“It is not possible for Euro NCAP to test every new car that comes onto the market, nor can it test all variants of each car offered by the manufacturer,” according to Euro NCAP. “To provide the broadest range of consumer information, each year a selection is made of the most popular and interesting models.”

" How do you tell whether an expensive luxury car is safe? You trust that the manufacturer has developed a car that can withstand the forces of a horrendous crash. "
Trust huh? Unfortunately trust is questionable after dieselgate.

The only thing you can say for sure is the C7 A6 gets very high marks and you would hope that carries over to the D4 and D5.

Not sure the 2011 D4 was ever tested--the government "star" safety rating section on the Monroney sticker shows it as "Not Rated". I'll check the sticker for my 2015 this weekend.

2015 A8L also not crash tested. The Monroney sticker shows the same “Not Rated” for all US government Star rating crash testing—same as the 2011 A8L.

Which, to be fair, I don't think the W222 S class was crash tested either.

I guess no one wants to sacrifice a six figure car in the name of safety
