Replacing Control Arm Bushings at 50K Miles?
I had my oil changed on my '14 SQ5 at the local Audi dealership. They found during the multi-point inspection that the upper and lower control arm bushings needed to be replaced. Has anyone else replaced them at 50K miles? Along with the need for new brake pads (currently all at 3mm) and new rotors and the need for tires, they 'offered' to replace everything for almost $7K. That was my laugh for the day!!
Let me know your thoughts my Q5/SQ5 family....

Remember the old days what you could buy new for $7K...….
I had...…….
1968 Z-28 Camaro - $3500 (could buy 2)
1971 Datsun(Nissan) 240Z - $3600 (could buy 2)
1977 Datusn 280Z - $7K
Then it started to get expensive.
To the OP if you don't hear any clunking sounds going over a rough road with slight brake pressure, I would just drive for many more miles.
Find an independent shop to have the brake pads and rotors changed, same for the tires.
I'm surprised that they didn't tell you that your motor mounts are shot!

sistrunk05 although it's possible it sounds like you're being sold a "bill of goods" These control arm bushings should last much longer than that.I'm at 230k kms/ 142k mls for you Muricans.I drive bad Quebec roads.I'm a tech so I know how to evaluate suspension status.Mine are probably at 2/3 s of their life. When it's time to replace, go to ECS tuning. They have some good stuff and often will have a full front-end replacement kit.Restores the vehicle to new but your car is far too young !

Replace the whole arm w/the bushings when you do the control arms. A lot easier no matter who is doing them, brakes are relatively easy. Just know that with Audi's you need to have Vagcom in order to release the rear parking brake motor. When I did my B8.5 A4 I also had to take the rear motors off completely to release them properly in order to put the new pads in. Not a big deal, but when you never have done them before and issues like that pop up it becomes a nuisance. Tires, if you don't need em right away shop around. My buddy manages a Mavis tire, hooked me up with a set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S+ for $700 installed (19" factory rims). I normally buy online then have a indy shop mount/balance, but I couldn't beat that deal.
Also if you plan on keeping the car long, use FCPEuro. You can return any part you buy from them for a new one at any point, even used oil!

Wow, $7K, are they dropping a new engine as well? Might be worth it to take it to another dealer for a pre-purchase inspection after you do the brakes.

Some Audi dealers maybe managed by a consortium of crooks. Might be a good idea to check if yours is part of this.

when I was buying my 15 SQ5 with 55k on it, I had a PPI done on it and the Audi dealer found a leaking bushing on one of the lower control arms. got it replaced by the selling dealer under warranty.
