Mud flaps, running boards or both - yay or nay?
Wanting to avoid rock chips and discourage scunge under the doors. Not a big film fan - thanks!

Have mud flaps and like them. Running boards require cutting the under-cover and I didn't like that idea.
Still applied 14" film on the sides all around. Can't tell it's there.

Both I actually have mud flaps which I will install when swapping the wheels from my winter set. Don't have the running boards, and while it would be nice to have them can't justify the expense (have small children so the running boards can make it somewhat easier for them to get in and out - but it's not a big deal as is). I don't think running boards will do much for protection.

Others have mentioned that due to the Q sitting "rather low" (compared to something like a pickup), that you typically drag your leg on the boards, and then your pants are always dirty. In a truck, you always step on them, the Q is more of a laterally slide to get in.
I do have the mud flaps (dealer just automatically installed them when the car came off the truck). They aren't the prettiest thing, but they do save the rocker panels from stone chips and sand blasting.
