Sad, but even worse, 37 Porsches, including four 911GT2RS's

This seems to happen with some regularity. There's even a Wikipedia page with the list of RORO vessel accidents. I still remember the Tricolor in 2002 that went down with 3000 vehicles including BMWs, Volvos and Saabs. It's been three years since the last one.

I wonder if some of those rims are still salvageable. The sea salt can't be worse than what they put on the road.

It is really sad about the GT2RS's but at least Porsche is being a good company and putting the cars back into production for the 4 that were lost.

Good will isn't in play on this one. Fear of breach of contract law suits and bad publicity is. Owners want the car they contracted for and dealers make a healthy profit on Porche sales. Owners and dealers would bring suit. Media would play up how Porsche doesn't care about Porsche fanatics. Better just to bite the bullet and produce a few more cars even if it incurs a loss. Customers is happy and Porsche is a hero.. It's a cynical look at this but big corporations do nothing out of good will.

Wow — Someone who has the same cynical outlook as me!

To add to your point — I’m sure Porsche’s lawyers did an ROI on this one and will attempt to either go after the ships Owners for the cost of re-starting the line or take a huge write down on their tax sheets.

Nonetheless, it’s good press and a way to “show our customers (and potential customers) what a customer facing company Ferdinand founded.”
