I have yet to do this mod but don’t u usually remove the foam padding that’s on the crash bar and then paint it black? There’s a big thread in this already. I’d suggest u read the whole thing before giving up on the grill you have. Good luck. Let us know how it works out.

You will have to lose the foam and even then it will be a tight fit with sensors, which is why the EMD grill comes with the right angled sensors.

In the thread that S5man24 referenced but this is the normal procedure for the RS-Style grille installs:
Stock, with foam padding
Grille setup with foam padding removed and bumper painted flat black
As always, YMMV, depending on what your seller sent you.

That's the "V1" grill with the two different hex sizes and a higher sensor mounting location. Even with the "V2" grill with the lower sensor mounting location I still needed to notch the bottom edge of the crash bar about 1/8" to prevent touching the original dark gray OEM sensor. With both grills you have to remove the foam section and with the "V1" grill AFAIK you need to buy flat sensors like on the outsides of your bumper in order to fit the grill.
