Correct tire pressure for 20" black optic wheels
I have the stock 20" black optic wheels for the 2019 s5 sportback (265 30 20) and the door says to fill all 4 tires up to 45 psi. But the dealership says to put much less in for a comfortable drive. Whats the proper psi you guys put to have a comfortable ride while not wearing out the tire or putting any risk to bend the rim.
Thanks!
Thanks!

If you check the table posted by haymow, you can see that the recommended tire pressure for RS5 is dependant of the car top speed. For example, the tire pressure recommend for the RS5 is 36 / 32 if the top speed is 155 mph and 39 / 36 if the top speed is 174 mph (there is a high speed option available for the RS5). And the same thing apply to the S5 versus the A5. The S5 requires higher pressure because it has a higher top speed than the A5 (155 mph versus 127 mph). So unless you need to drive at high speed, you don't need those high pressure.
Tire rack has an article about this requirement for high speed driving.
If you examine the tire pressure for the A5 and the S5, you will notice that the A5 use the same tire pressure front and rear and that the S5 / RS5 use a higher tire pressure in the front (compared to the rear). This is probably because of the heavier engine present in the S5 and RS5 (I4 versus V6). From the table, it seems that 3 / 4 more PSI are needed in the front of the S5 / RS5.
The recommended tire pressure for the S5 with 265/30R20 94Y is 41 / 38 PSI and 33 / 33 for the A5 with the same tire.
So unless I need to drive at higher speed than 127 mph, I would use 33 PSI in the rear (as the A5) and 36 PSI in the front (+ 3 PSI in the front for the heavier engine).
Improper tire pressure could have deadly consequences so please do not follow recommendations found on forums. Particularly mine!!!! :-)

These are the cold pressures, right?
I say that because I used this table to set mine last weekend. I went with 38/32... but shortly after driving, the TPMS read 41/35 or so.
Which, to me, seems ‘in the range’.
I just ponder this question, having read about all these folks on track days who spend a great deal of time futzing and letting air out as their track day goes on.

You can also monitor tire wear. Properly inflated tires will wear evenly across the entire tread. If your tires wear faster in the middle, you are over inflated. If they wear faster on the edges, you are under-inflated.
