Default 2019 Navigation Update frustration

In-vehicle updates to the 2019 navigation database have been available since December 2018, but on the MyAudi (audiusa.com/myaudi) website, you still cannot download this 2019 update. My dealer can't explain and they've created a ticket to try and motivate Audi to update their available downloads but so far, no action. This wouldn't be a problem IF I was allowed to download all of the map updates in vehicle, but I've been limited to only 4 regions/states and I want them all for an upcoming cross-country trip.

Yeah, I know I can use other Car Play based navigation products, but I want the vehicle's indigenous database as current as possible.

Does anyone know what's going on with Audi on this? Is there another way to get access to the entire North American 2019 update? Heck, at this rate the 2019/2020 update will be out by July before they ever this one updated!

Thanks,
Jonathan

You can register for an online account at https://my.audi.com/ and download the entire North America (US/Canda/Mexico) map (under Audi Connect Services > Map update) onto an SD or USB. You can then proceed to update the map database in your car from the SD or USB.

Not the 2019 maps, which is what he's talking about.

Thank you. You are correct. When I said "Audi Care", I had meant "My Audi" and on that website, there is no 2019 database to download.

Just logged in to My Audi and it also shows only the 2018/2019 map is available for download. If I remember correctly last year the 2018 map was not available until June. So maybe the 2019 map will be available in June.

I hope they don't plan for a 6-month lag between releases. I know that the 2018/2019 became available in July though I wasn't yet a My Audi user to see what was posted. The 2019 update became available last December.

I rather expect the 2019/2020 to become available (in-vehicle) by July too.

I've been doing the updates from the myaudi download since summer 2017. I have not yet seen the "20xx" update on there in January. I've always had to wait for May/June for the "20xx/20yy" update.

Thank you Rick. So, if I understand your reply correctly, you've only been seeing a single, annual update posted on My Audi, even though the database is updated about every 6 months (in-vehicle). Why they would do it this way defies a logical rationale in my mind...

Here's a mention of the 2018 map (not 2017/2018) update in Jan 2018: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q5-...-maps-2939975/

That confirms what I'm thinking: they provide version 2019 only for OTA updates. For downloaded updates, they are only providing 2018/2019.
