Default MMI or amp dead?

Whilst driving yesterday the radio stopped playing in my elderly 2007 Q7 / 2G high. When I pulled up to park, I noticed that the MMI visual parking aids and the rear view camera had also stopped working.

I have - sound from the navigation system, sound from the parking sensors, bluetooth calls work fine. MMI display is also fine other than parking assist/camera not appearing.

I do not have - audio from the radio/cd nor visual parking aids/rear view camera.

Plugging in my iPhone via USB (car has a Dension fitted) holds the phone's music on pause.

Pushing the volume to un-mute/resume reboots the MMI in the same way as the three button reset.

Wondering whether this might be a dead amplifier? (Nav/phone via centre speaker and a different amp?) Would a failed amplifier also take out the parking assist visuals & rear view camera?

A mate's vac-com scan didn't show any errors other than glow plugs and headlight range under voltage. Words of wisdom greatly appreciated!

Check spare tire area for water damage from sunroof drains.. it could take out all that.

Luckily I don't have the sunroof! I was in the rear to remove the fuses for the rear camera/MMI etc to see if that helped (it didn't), whole area totally dry...

A bit of information that I missed out, the MMI display also reverted to German at the same time as everything stopped working!

So, no audio, no parking assist image (but get the beeps), no rear camera, MMI speaking Deutsch. Pressing volume resets MMI. No faults shown on a scan.

I've tried MMI three button reset, removing amp/camera fuses & MMI reset via the green service menu.

Can't help but feel I'm missing something obvious as these are surely all different systems? I've spent way too much time and effort fixing up this car to give up now...

Another update!

Had my friend run the output test on the amp and got sound from all the car speakers, seems the amp must be ok! :-) So, popped in a new battery as so many threads point to old batteries knocking out the audio and camera. Had my friend code it and clear any faults but, still no sound or rear camera or parking assist image.... :-( Am I missing something obvious?

Check coding? Find someone whom posted a VCDS scan log here.. it includes long coding info, compare it to yours.. since you said display went german mebe something got corrupted and your car is no longer coded for having a MMI or something

Thanks dreadlocks! Just messaged my friend to see if he'd kept the scans.
He said backup camera was now showing '1 fault, 778, steering angle G86 - check dtc' but thinks this is just calibration after changing the battery. Worse news is that his last scan has 07 control head with three issues, no basic setting, component proection active and not coded... Previous coding for it was 0002002 (is now 0000000) but does component proection mean that he's now locked out of fixing it?

so much for no errors, yeah your coding is all messed up.. try to re-code it back to original values.. no idea what component protection did but its likely something along the lines of the component is disabled until coded correctly, I doubt it'd lock him out unless whatever module it was is just completely ****ed up.

Ha ha, yeah, to be fair, he was looking for errors on 47 sound system and 6C-Back-up Cam (which was clear before I changed the battery) will get the car to him tomorrow and see if he can code it back to standard. I thought the autoscans only included the short coding? I just searched the forum for control head scans (example below) and they didn't seem to include the long codes?

Well, the Q7 is certainly happier with a new battery but I've still not got audio or parking assist.... We cleared all DTCs and I went for a drive which sorted out the steering sensor error. Scanned again and the only error he got was control head > no basic setting & control head > component protection.

Short coding is 2002 and we went through the long coding for installed modules and set them up as they should be :
install list 1 - 37132
install list 2 - 19
additional - 52

Resett MMI and nada, still got no basic setting & component protection, nothing changed other than parking assist now showing up on the MMI setup but greyed out
I'm stuck. And sad to have no music. Is there anything else that I can try?
