Okay, just got a brand new 2019 Q5 Premium plus and was wondering about my first oil change at 5,000 miles. I have a Schwaben oil extractor which I used to extract the oil through the oil dipstick on my 2013 VW Tiguan. How do I extract it on the 2019 Q5, is it through the oil cap, I have heard about an oil dipstick plug on the 2018/2019 Q5's which you have to remove to extract the oil.

Remove the plug from the dipstick port and extract from there.

FWIW if you don't do your first oil change of your brand new Audi at the dealership they could give you a hard time with the warranty. I know it's stupid, but it is what it is. Plus that first oil change is free.

Yes, I plan on doing the first oil change at 5000 miles, whether it is at the dealership or DIY. I bought the $995 maintenance program FWIW, but I still plan on doing the changes at 5000 miles. I have been told that the oil can handle 10000 miles, but the filter will not last that long. Also, the parts manager at the Audi dealership here in Cleveland told me I should keep all oil change receipts and document all oil changes in case of a warranty issue. This guy impressed me with being very knowledgeable and had been around Audi's for a while.

I do my own oil changes. Every time I do a service, on the receipt I write the mileage and everything that was done. It's needed for warranty work and a good idea for resale

How do you know the filter won't last that long? Do you know something Audi doesn't? I have 8,000 miles on my car, should I be nervous?

(Honestly, I'm wondering how you came to that conclusion)

Wondering as well. If audi claims their filter is good for 10k, I imagine it was pretty vigorously tested to even 15k

I was discussing this with my other friends who own Audi. It should be good for 10K as Audi recommends. There might be some exceptions such as driving in very dusty, polluted areas but I think I would be fine here in Seattle.
