Default Shifter - How long to recode?

Shifter is nice looking but how long will it take before I before I could recode memory muscles?

One in two, I put the car in reverse instead of park. The other times, I need think at least a second or two.

I also hate that I can't put the car directly in S from R.

S to R is done just like you do D to R. (M to R can't be done)
As far as shifting to park goes, try what many of us are doing, just shut down the car instead of pressing P and it will set P by itself, even from the M position.

I mean R to S. When I leave from my place, I must first back up in the street and is then impossible to go directly from R to S.

I share the same situation. Sometimes I can shift straight from R into D, other times I must be pressing the brake and come to a full stop.

I don't think that's what he meant. I'm with you as sometimes I need to press the brake pedal to shift out of R and sometimes not. It probably has to do with whether the car thinks you are stopped or not and I think the limit is 1 MPH. When I read the OP's comment it sounds like he would rather be able to shift directly to S mode from R after starting the car but the car defaults to D and requires a second pull to get to S.

Muscle memory is a bitch to overcome! While I'm still figuring out all the gizmos in the Audi, I think getting the shifting thing down is going to take the most time...

I don't think I will ever be comfortable doing that, as it could lead to a potentially embarrassing situation when driving someone else's car or a rental car if I train myself to not shift into P.

It's really not that hard. Took me maybe a week to get used to it.,

I've also coded mine to put the parking brake on as well. I just reverse up my sloped driveway, foot on brake and hit the start/stop button. All done. If I want to just have it in P and not apply the parking brake then I shift to N first, then it leaves the parking brake alone.

Coming from a BMW they have been doing the P button on the shifter for a while so this was quite intuitive for me
