Default Q7 to Q8

Have (and love) a 2017 Q7 Premium Plus and am contemplating a Q8. Has anyone made the move? And share their experience? Thanks!

Went from a 2017 Q7 Prestige to a Q8 Prestige. Even though they're built on the exact same platform, they are different as night & day. I loved the Q7 but the Q8 is much less of a "Mommy mobile". Didn't need the third row any more (minimal usefulness).
We've had the Q8 since February & I still look forward to driving it every day.

As Cadx6, we also went from a 2017 Q7 Prestige to a Q8 Prestige and I second everything he said. Zero complaints about the Q7, loved it, too, but the Q8 is simply a much better drive on all parameters. Lot of skepticism about the MMI touchscreen in the Q8, I was skeptic too, but I don't miss the old MMI at all, the new one is way better. Besides the lack of a third row, also rarely used it and don't miss it, the trunk space in the Q8 is smaller than that in the Q7, which may be something to consider.

Hey @IndyRon , I'm also in Noblesville. If you want, we can meet up and you can do a side-by-side comparison of your Q7 and my Q8, away from the dealer environment, to see what you think.

I have a 2017 Q7 prestige and a 2019 Q8 prestige. My wife drives the Q7 and I drive the Q8. She does not like the Q8 as it feels too rough for her...

Noticeable differences

Q7 has much softer steering, very easy, where as the Q8 is pretty firm

Acceleration on Q7 is much better due to the Q8's start stop system and turbocharging requiring it more time to actually accelerate (Audi needs to fix this problem with the Q8 asap)

Less headroom in the Q8 as it has sportier roof lines and you definitely notice it in the front seats and rear seats. I recently has someone who is 6'6" and he mentioned this. The Q7 just seems more spacious.

Less storage room in Q8. The screens take up a lot of space and the center console is laughable at storing anything. This becomes a problem when you have two drinks in cupholders and notice there is no place to put your phone.

Fuel mileage is a couple mpg's better in the Q7 in my experience.

In January my wife and I went to our local Audi dealer to see a Q7. Upon arrival we saw a Q8 in the showroom (not knowing what it was). We both asked, "What's that?!" We did a test drive of the Q7 that day. It was nice. We checked out the Q8 in the showroom before we left. They next day we went back to do a test drive of a Q8. I immediately loved it! The obsession began... I did my research from that point on and 2 months later purchased my first ever Audi! (2019 Q8!) I love it! Nicest vehicle I've ever owned. I hope to get many great years from it. The test drives were night and day, for me, between the Q7 and Q8. The Q8 also appealed to both of us over the Q7 (interior and exterior). Both are extremely nice but we chose the Q8.
