Default Euro Sportback mystery button - What does it do?

So as I've seen some pictures of European SB's, I 've noticed what looks like a functioning button where all US based cars have a blank. Out of sheer curiosity can anyone tell me more about it?

US Blank button

Euro functioning button

Yes, it's the auto-hold button. Not just for hill hold, it keeps the brakes engaged automatically whenever you come to a stop but are in gear, allowing you to remove your foot from the brake.

I had it on my Golf R, it was awesome, so sad that Audi doesnt have it in the US.

No air suspension. These buttons open and close the power top on the cabriolet.

These buttons allow you to increase or decrease the volume of your significant others voice.

I don't like it, never use it. Needs a decent prod on the accelerator to disengage - far too much so when parallel parking, and you feel the hesitation in general driving from starting off. Audi mention it is beneficial when towing something. But I have it on both cars, as it was worth the $100 or so not to have a blank switch plate

Brake hold would be amazing. Lexus offers it in Canada wish Audi did too...
