Default Groaning creaking Suspension

I have had this problem now for 2 years and its driving me insane

Car: audi A5 2011, 120K

Symptoms: Car makes a "croaking" /"groaning" noise when going over bumps at low speed, steering the car makes no different and it only happens when the car is in motion

I have had a shock absorber replaced and some cracked suspension brushes replaced too, still no luck

The problem started after i had my gear box casing replaced as this became rattly once, literally as soon as i drove out the garage it started from having this issue

Reading around here i have seen issues where things have been torqued too much , the garage cannot find the issue and to be honest isn't accepting much responsibility, had 3 garages look at it, as the problem is intermittent it makes the situation harder to show them

It happens particularity on a morning!

i am going to start trying to spray wd40 on different components in the suspension to see if this helps and to see what stops it, but the fact this happened after i had something done on my gearbox /gearbox casing might be a clue, can anyone maybe drive any clues to what they may of done that may of caused this?

i am at my wits end with it, its so noisy and embarrassing when im driving and have people in the car!

The main culprits for such noises are the sway bar bushings.

does the sway bar get touched when anything with the gear happens? if it does then this might be bang on the mark

As i said earlier it started the second they did something with my gearbox

I have put 250k miles on Audi’s and I get a similar noise every 30k miles or so. I am betting it’s the sway bars from what you have described.

Thanks kevin

I will just get new sway bar linkages and bushes fitted and try. It happens a lot when I reverse backwards down a hill and turn I have noticed. Probably putting most stress on the sway bars at that point. Il report back and get car booked in

Thanks for your replies

I switched to Eurocode Sway bars and end links and have been very happy.
