Default Chipping/Tuning

Looking at possibly tuning my SQ5. I know APR is still not available for some reason, and not 100% sure on JB4 for Audi, feel like they are geared more towards BMW. Anyone have other suggestions? Was looking at RaceChip tuning, has anyone done this?

I had the JB4 on my 335i. Great product and I plan on getting it for the SQ5 unless APR releases one soon.

The JB4 is great, works flawlessly and George is on top of the ball helping out if you’ve got any issues

What everyone else said. It's not they are "geared towards BMW", they have just been the defacto standard for BMW turbo applications since the N54 was launched in 2007. I've never ran a JB4 on my BMW, but have one (and love it) on my SQ5. Burger's support and attention to issues is nothing shy of remarkable.

Bosch MG1 ECU was just cracked this week. Should see some real tunes but it may be a while. I know I don't want to be in the first batch! Lol

Forgive my ignorance, but is the Bosch MG1 ECU what is used in the 2018-2019 SQ5? If so, that's fantastic news.

Yes sir! Both MG1 (ours) and the MD1 have been cracked. This opens up lots of tuning opportunities for Audi,, VW,, Porsche, Lamborghini, Ford and anyone else who has this tank of an ECU.

Now that being said Bosch went through great lengths to protect it so I doubt they'll give up without a fight. Depending on the the method of exploit used to gain access it very possibly could be patched out quickly and we're back to square one. Hoping for the best though!

If I was to guess, it would be more about a patent expiring (one patented, it's public knowledge) that allows tuners to unlock it legally, vs random individuals hacking it. For the latest BMW platform, same deal just happened a couple months ago, with multiple tuners all having the ability to change the flash tune. Too coincidental that MANY people all cracked it around the same time.

That being said, bring it on! The B9 engine should be stupid fun when the power is cranked up.

i have used Racechip on a 2013 Q5 2.0l and it worked. However I have the CPA Chiptuning piggyback on my 2018 SQ5 and it works very well. At 60% setting it quickens my times by almost 4/10 of a second 0-60 and 1/4 mile. At the highest setting it has been track tested on an S4 3.0l T (on audizine forum) and it gave a full half second improvement.

Both Racechip and CPA Chiptuning are piggy back systems that plug in downstream from the ECU and leave no tracks in the computer. Both of my vehicles have run through Audi diagnostics multiple times and nothing has shown up. I'm pleased with both systems. I remove the tuners before going to the dealer since it's only a simple plug and play it only takes a minute.
