Default ESC light flashes during tight turns

Anyone else notices that the ESC (stability control) light tends to come on pretty easily when you gun it while making a right turn? I think it tends to come on more often during right turns vs. left. Maybe because right turns are usually tighter than lefts. I don't remember it used to come on that frequently. My tires has almost 15K on it I wonder if that's part of the reason... This is on dry pavement by the way.

I have an A5 and the ESC kicks in. Tight turns from a stop are much more fun with the ESC turned off. I can only imagine what would happen in an S or RS. You'd better be holding on tight and make sure there is absolutely nothing around you.

Maybe I'm not pushing my car hard enough, but the ESC light almost never comes on.

You might want to check the tread depth on your tires. Gunning it on a right turn with marginal tires would certainly push traction limits.

You're not supposed to gun it in the middle of a turn. Of course the ESC is cutting in to keep your on your line.

Sounds like it may be time for new tires

Are you getting wheel spin? What tires do you run? Dry grip actually increases as the tire wears. There's less flex from the tread. Best would be completely worn tires with no profile like slicks for ultimate dry grip. The tire profile is only there for wet grip to evacuate the water and to grip the snow in case of winter tires, but it actually reduces dry grip. If you don't have wheel spin, does your car have the sport differential? If not, then I would expect the ESP to kick in to keep you on your line, but not with the sport differential as it will shift the torque around to keep you going. In my experience I have never had ESP come on if I gunned it in a turn on cars that have the sport differential. In fact if I do this in my RS5 I can break the rear tires loose and go a little sideways around the turn. ESP will step in if the front tires also lose grip or if I don't control the slide. With ESP in Sport mode it allows for even more slide.

Just something I recently noticed and never really noticed when the car was new. I also recently got an alignment (which includes adapting the steering angle sensor), and I definitely need new tires. They're at 15K and the wear indicator is about to show. Just wanted to make sure others are seeing the same and it has nothing to do with my steering angle sensor.
