Default Should I replace 2016 S6 brake pads and rotors?

Sorry if I've missed a post on this brake topic, but couldn't find anything similar. I was recently in for my latest Audicare service on my 2016 S6 (44,500kms / 27,300miles). During the inspection they identified the front brake pads and rotors as needing replacement. Cost was around $2000 to do both, so want to confirm what the dealership is telling me.

Both pads and rotors are OE. I took the front tires off and made some measurements. The rotors are at 36.27mm. They are Brembo's and indicate right on the rotor itself a minimum of 35mm before replacement - so I think I'm o.k. on the rotors (whew - they're expensive). The pads measure 5mm, which I expect is too worn, but I can't find any specs to indicate what is acceptable.

I guess I'm curious why the dealership would recommend replacing both rotors and pads, when the rotors appear to have plenty and life (and no visible damage).

What are recommendations for replacement pads (which I would do myself)? The EBC Redstuff front pads appear popular on this forum.

Dealer always recommends replacing rotors with pads.
Depending on perspective $500-$600 for a pair of rotors on an $80k car is not too bad...and cheap insurance.
Some members say you can go 2 sets of pads on one set of rotors, but still recommend getting them resurfaced which will cut you down to maybe 1mm left before reaching minimum thickness...reminder they start brand new at 38mm so you went through 1.79mm in 27k miles. So you will likely be at minimum rotor thickness in just 15k miles more. In which case you would need to replace the rotors and pads again since you usually don't want used pads on new rotors. ymmv

Here is an alternative for 1pc front brake rotors vs 2pc oem. If you are not doing any tracking with your car, these should do. You can use any pad you wish.

Thanks for the replies.

Replacing both pads and rotors is a bit easier to swallow with the better rotor pricing at Brake Performance. The other problem I'd like to solve is the brake squeal which I've had since the S6 was new. When temperatures drop below freezing, the brake squeal is very annoying. I've read that the EBC Redstuff ceramic pads are quieter and have less dust, so thinking of ordering the EBC pads and the Break Performance rotors. The Brake Performance kit pricing (pads + rotors) is also very good - just not sure on the quality of the pads.

Another discussion on pads. I have the Z26 and I like them. So far no squeal or noise or dust for me. Initial bite is not as aggressive as oem, but read the discussion. Red stuff I hear is good.

That's the only thing I'd be worried about.
I don't think anyone has used them long enough to know for sure.

For my type of driving, I have no concerns.

27,000 miles seems early to replace the brakes. When new, the pads are 10mm thick. At my last service, 42,000 miles, my pads were at 6mm front and 7mm rear. The service tech stated that they suggest replacement at 3mm.

At my last service, 18,000 miles, my pads were at 6mm front and 5mm rear (due to assisted cruise). The advisor suggested replacement at my next service.

I will probably replace pads and rotors at 20k miles on the S6. The rotors have a pretty large ridge on the perimeter, so they are well worn.

My old B8 S4 pads were replaced about every 20k miles.
