Default EuroSunday Cross-post

Cool series of events continues to Sunday... At the shop on Friday, Alan mentioned he was going to EuroSunday this week. I had not been in a few months, and the last weekend is always the biggest. This week had twice as many cars as any other I had been to. There were 2 McLaren SLR's, probably a 100 Ferrari's, many, many vintage cars from many makes. Some sweet Jaguar E-types, a Volvo P1800 (my dad had one of those "back in the day" before he had kids), classic-era Aston Martin's, etc.

The event is supposed to run from 7-9 am. I got there around 9:15. At 10:30 the call to "clear out" came, so I rolled out a little before 11:00. On my way to go make some canyon runs, I spotted Jay Leno on his way in, in his 1937 Bugatti. I was on the freeway entrance, to I hit the next exit and cruised back. I got to meet Jay, and took a ton of photo's of the Bugatti. I can't believe he drives the thing - it is kept in "vintage" state (just an electric fan "in case I get stuck in traffic, but I have never turned it on", Jay said). The brakes are CABLE actuated, and ride over pulleys!!! The steering goes through a torturous path from steering wheel to wheel action. I was very happy to get a close up look at the car - this time I DID have my camera!

Here's a shot of Alan with Jay:

The Bugatti:

Spare plugs onboard (sign of coming Audi reliability?!):

Before there were U-joints... This is for the blower, but the same "technology" is used on the main steering shaft:

A better shot of Jay:

He was VERY personable and approachable. Kept egging this kid on to grab the wheel like a racer:

And now a few cars I had not seen before, or that I found noteworthy:

Ariel Atom:

Noble:

Nice Speedster, but likely a "replicar":

A vintage Z fanatic. He's stuffed a Maxima V6 in the REAR of a 240z!

A great mix of beer and car:

Ford RS200 Rally Car:

You guys can probably name this one yourselves (it was in a little rough shape) - No longer an "OT" post! :

One for Sal:

SLR, ready to "take flight":

I've been a fan of the E-type for a LONG time... Not the best color choice on this one, though, IMO:

Some American muscle:

Street Legal? (McLaren race car):

It's got a rear plate, at least:

A couple Carrera GT's:

This one looks like a "grocery getter"...

Crown control hardware on hand (Korean war era) - that's a REAL Shelby Cobra to the left:
