The Harvest Moon Rally is Coming!

Hey Guys,

Harvest Moon, the final rally of the 2010 ITN Rally year is coming up on Oct. 23. A flyer is up on the website at itnrally.org with final information about the start, etc. We’re beginning the event at our familiar home in Valencia, the Marie Callender’s at the Magic Mountain exit of the I-5. Finish will be within about 10 miles of Start.

The rally will run through the San Gabriels, Tehachapis, and very southern Sierras. There will be canyons, mountains, valleys and wide-open spaces. Arrow straight runs to allow for adequate engine carbon removal, and a few twisty parts, as usual, to help slosh all your gas for even mixture. Most of the rally will be run during the day, but we hope to finish under a big, bright Harvest Moon. With any luck, we’ll also catch the trees changing color.

Registration will open at 10:00 am on Saturday, Oct. 23. The Group B (beginner) orientation will begin at 11:00 am. Please bear in mind this orientation is not really about driving. We figure you already know how to do that or you wouldn’t be interested in rallying anyway. No, this is more to give you an idea of how the rally is organized, and, more importantly, how most entrants approach the navigational aspect of the sport of Monte Carlo style road rallies.

If you haven’t done one of these events, here are a couple of notes. First time entrants run without an entry fee. If you are a first timer, please check the website for the “how - to - rally” video. The cars and narrator in the video are a bit dated now, but it still gives you a bit of an easy introduction.

The rally has been written by new rallymasters, Kevin and Sean Ayers, a father and son team. Helping them out as rally chairman is David Budlong.

We certainly hope you can join us on October 23 for Harvest Moon.
