Audi A6 C6 Avant, 2009, sport with Koni FSD shock absorbers
Hi all,
please help me to choose the right solution to fix my next problem. I had an A6 C6, 2009 Avant with factory sport suspension which I don't like it at all. It's to harsh for romanian roads that are a little bit bumpy
I read about the Koni FSD shock absorbers that will fix my problem and I will get a significant increase in comfort after mounting them.
Questions:
1. After installing the new Koni FSD, the car will be even lower than now? Considering that I already have the SPORTS factory suspension, that lowers the car with 20mm.
2. I intend to leave the factory sport springs on the car, it's ok or should I change them also with eibach?
3. Now I have 16'' rims on the car and I'm afraid to put 17'' rims until I change the shocks. After installing them, It's ok to move on to 17'' rims without sacrifice comfort?
Conclusion: Will the comfort significantly increase after this operation? Like I said, the sport factory springs will remain and I will change only the shocks with KONI FSD's.In order to increase comfort you advice me to change the springs also?
Thank you so much for any helpful information.
Regards,
adrian

1. Height will nto change
2. if you want softer ride, you'd be better with non-sport springs. Eibachs will make it lower and stiffer
3. 17" wheels, with correspondingly smaller tire sidewalls, will always make the ride harsher
This should all be obvious. More tire means more cushion. Softer springs means softer ride, and vice-versa.

Grant, thank you for your answer!
So, if I let the standard sport springs of the car and change only the shock absorbers, I will not notice a big change in comfort?
Can you please recommend me some example of comfort springs?
Thank you,
Adrian

You *may* notice a small improvement - but i don;t find that Audi OEM shocks are all that stiff.
When i say "comfort" springs, i am referring to one of the two suspension setups Audi provides fromt eh factory:
1. Standard or comfort
2. Sport - 20mm lower and ~ 30% stuffer (from what you say, you have this suspension)
Almost all aftermarket solutions are even stiffer and lower than Audi sport. Most enthusiasts want that.
if you want a car appropriate for bad roads, get Audi original standard springs (non sport) and Koni FSD shocks. This will be 20 mm higher; 30% softer (springs) and the Koni FSDs are valved to be softer when needed (small bumps). I have never used them - this is from others' comments and Koni's literature.
For best ride and handling you should always match shocks and springs. Changing one only typically results in poor results.
