Torn Front axle boot
I have a 2006 a4 Quattro S-line. I noticed the other day that one of the rubber boots was torn. Is there a way to just replace those boots without having to replace the entire assembly?

Yes you can replace just the CV boot. I did both outboard CV boots on my 2004 A6 S-Line without any issues. I'm not familiar with the A4 axle but if it is similar to mine just remove the axle assembly, cut off the old boot and bands, then work the outboard joint (I'm assuming this is torn and not your inboard boot) around until the ***** come out. I'd advise keeping track of which ball came out of which groove so you reassembly into the same position to keep the wear pattern. Also purchase, rent, or borrow some CV band pliers to crimp your new bands on. Purchase a boot kit with the grease, crimp bands, and new axle bolt. I think I bought a GKN kit.

I have the same tear right on the smaller clamp area, and for now I just used some of that stretchy self sticking silicone tape from AutoZone and wrapped it a few times to keep the grease from getting everywhere. Seems to be working fine until I get a new axle.
