Default 2.5 L v6 oil breather

My A4 2.5L tdi quattro Has started to exhaust blue/white smoke when idling after a normal run (ie at traffic lights). I suspect the crankcase oil breather is blocked. everything is normal at speed and there does not seem to be abnormal oil consumption.
Any ideas on how to check/clean the breather would be appreciated.
