Default Crazy dog story

My wife purchased a new 2006 Jetta TDI about two months ago. This is our first diesel car, and we love it. Our oldest dog, however, is another story. The dog, a 10 year old mixed breed, goes absolutely bonkers whenever the Jetta is started. The dog starts barking wildly and running around the car. Once the car is put into reverse, this crazy but very, very fast dog, runs to the back of the car and tries to bite the exhaust pipe. How do I know? I have bite marks on the exhaust. The dog takes a bite, doesn't get anything done, and then runs to the end of the driveway, where she continues to bark until the car is out of the driveway. Once the car is out of the driveway, she calms down and stops barking. The dog does not bark or go through any crazy behavior upon our return home. The dog has never done this with any other of our gas powered cars.

Default Re: maybe the sound of the <insert item> warming up.

I don't think it's the turbos. Our other car is a gas powered turbo - Audi 2.7T, and absolutely no barking or biting.

The "attacks" make for a funny sight, but I have to be real careful. The dog always gets out of the way, but then again, I'm not going to floor it to test out her reaction time.

Default The turbo whine of mine startles the moose and deer in the ditches so thats a good thing.
