What a shock to find the TDI forum dead. Thought this would be bristling with energy and interest. No wonder the Germans don't bring their hottest technology to the U.S., too few want it here.
I will have to wait for everyone else to catch up in order to buy a hotrod TDI.
Its the future guys.

You can ask Russian guys. We use TDI technology little less than German guys, but we've got enough experience in Diesel Engines!

Well, there aren't a lot of Audi TDIs in the States yet. The Q7 has only been available a few months, and the A3 won't be here for another month or so. A few of the bigger dealers have Eurospec A3s for test drives (I took a spin in one a couple weeks ago), and Audi has a couple of commercials that get occasional play, but the big push probably won't come until mid-late November, when the A3s start arriving. For what it's worth, my dealer told me that the Q7 TDI is selling pretty well -- Audi may have underestimated the demand for it, as they're a bit hard to come by.
3 weeks ago, I put a deposit on an A3 TDI -- delivery is scheduled for mid-January. It's been reported that the first 6 months' production is already spoken for by pre-orders & dealer allocations; i.e. if you placed a factory order today, it'd be April or May before it could be filled.

Performance TDI's
I understand the A3 will be a 4-door here, not a desirable 2 door. Looking for a personal vehicle, not a people mover.
Nothing diesel for the performance minded guy I guess.

You could look at a 2 door VW Golf TDI. Add a chip + aftermarket suspenion and you've got a relatively fast and sporty TDI. Check my signature for more details, I have a VW Audi TDI specific forum.
