You have a warranty (10 years/120k miles) on the engine and some of its related components only.
The rest of your car, the "bumper to bumper" part is not covered. The question then ultimately comes down to whether an engine warranty is enough to give you the warm and fuzzies, or would you like the whole car covered? Only you can answer that....

Your high pressure fuel pump would be covered by the TDI extended warranty. The items you should worry more about are electronics, central locking etc.
Our 2015 TDI Q7 will go out of warranty this fall. Based on our experience with a 2011 TDI Q7 that we drove for seven years and 120,000 miles. I will not be buying an extended warranty on this 2015. I believe the TDI extended warranty will be enough.

Just for the record also, I have not purchased an extended warranty on my A8L due to the engine warranty. There again, I am comfortable and able to work on my own vehicle if needed (the other items).
