My 2014 TDI Q5 had the same issue and the high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) was replaced under warranty. Fairly common. If you'll perform a search on the Q5 forum you'll be able to read al about it.

Thanks - We took the car immediately to the Dealership. They were not able to replicate the issue for our Q7 TDI. It was Bernardi Audi in Natick, Mass. They were wonderful. They took the car right in, checked it out and took great car of my wife with no charge. We drove down to Florida with no problem, but it's good to know to what to check if it occurs again. Thanks.

Hello folks, I have an A6 Allroad with the BiTdi 3.0L v6, it had an issue with the glow plug light illuminating and, eventually, the Amber engine warning light. The car would only do 40 mph. Had it checked at the roadside by the breakdown service( Automobile association AA in the UK) and they diagnosed the turbo No 1 mechanical actuator module. Its prone to failure I am told. Anyway, my local audi specialist confirmed the failure and replaced the actuator module and the car is running perfectly, in fact better than before, much smoother acceleration.
I was told by the engineer that did the work that these actuators have plastic internal parts which will fail eventually. Total cost for the repair was £525, which my third party warranty reimbursed me, minus £40, as they don't cover diagnosis.
Hope that helps.

Default AUDI SUCKS

They are stating it is a sensor issue stemming from the "bad fuel". By the way I only put Shell Diesel in the car since our grocer gives $0.10+ per gallon. I have contacted Audi USA and spoke with a Customer Advocate, 1-800-822-AUDI (2834). If you have not contacted Audi USA, do so. They need to know this is a global issue not user error or fluke.
I know this is 9 years later, but wanted to have this out there. I had my fuel system on my 2014 TDI go kaput one day and AUDI tried to tell me it was "bad fuel" and it was my fault. Wanted to charge me upwards of $19k for replacement of the entire system. A little digging on the internet and I found a few class action suits and an interesting study at the University of Missouri, i think, that found AUDI equipped the Q7 TDI with under powered fuel pumps that eventually fail and send shrapnel through the fuel system. I pointed out to AUDI that I only bought fuel at Chevron or Shell while they claimed their scientists in Bavaria tested the fuel. Such liars. They lied about the exhaust and milage performance and went out of their way to cover it up. The local dealer claimed I needed to call Corporate to get my fuel pump issue resolved. I just hammered them locally, regionally, that it was not my obligation to search the labyrinth of the corporate system to resolve this. I presented my findings on line and they immediately relented and fixed the system as a warranty job.

BTW, I came here today because of this glow plug power issue. Taking it in today to 3rd party repair, much more reliable and honest.

So, Shell and Chevron locally (Southern California) are only selling B-20 Diesel (with up to 20% bio-diesel). Our TDI engines are spec'd for only being safe up to 5% bio-diesel, so they require the standard Diesel #2.

It has become increasingly difficult to find stations selling Diesel #2. Fortunately, Sam's Club is. But some local Sam's and Costco's have stopped offering diesel at all. So, it's 2nd tier places like Sinclair that continue to offer D #2.

This is a real problem. Can anyone speak to any consumer pressure to demand that top flight gas stations resume/restart selling Diesel #2 instead of the Biodiesel crap?

Not a big difference between the two fuels. Bio has obvious positive advantages for the environment. I don't believe a word AUDI says about their product nor should you.

Well, I (and other Audi drivers) should quite care what Audi says about their engines and fuel. Are you unaware of the gunking up problems from B20 fuel?
If we don't want to have huge repair bills, we need to use the right fuel, right?
My concern is the stations that won't sell what our cars require.

My 15 A8 TDI started doing the same thing. Loose fuel lines was the cause.
