2000 A6 Symphony radio compatibility
 

My 2000 A6 Symphony radio's cd player is starting to fail. It skips very easily over very minor bumps and occasionally won't play a cd at all, displaying an error message. I've been searching eBay for a replacement, but most of the radios seem to be Symphony models for the A4. From the pictures the radios look identical to mine, but I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure.

you can buy an A4 version (pre 2002 model year) and swap the faceplate from your A6 Sym radio
 

...the faceplate is the only difference.

also, you might need to recode the new sym radio for bose or none-bose. Check with the vagforum for more details...it's pretty easy with a vagcom.

Thank you for this info about swapping faceplates -- you just saved me some major bucks!

For those wondering, swapping the faceplate involves removing 4 Phillips screws, popping off the faceplace, and the reversing the process to put the new one on.
