Audi Connect
 

Audi connect is not offered in Canada and according to my salesperson won't be offered in 2016 or 2017.

My question is. If you have Audi Connect in the USA and I see from the forum m any people do, if you visit Canada does it still work? I would presume that the system would 'roam' onto a Canadian network and still function but I have no means of finding out.

Audi Connect worked for me in Vancouver BC this last summer.

Audi Connect is nothing but a GSM/LTE modem build in to the MMI, it will work everywhere as long as you have coverage (with or without roaming).

it is not a technical issue

federal laws in canada deal with personal privacy, no such laws exist in the USA.

thus the information that is passed from your car to the carrier without your knowledge or permission is not permissible.
items such as your position, speed, radio stations and other details can be automatically passed on without your blessing. in the car there is no means to inform you, let alone ask your permission.

that is also why the European auto makers want to drop apple and google in Europe and use their own service as they feel they are losing control and the service providers are getting too much information from the end users
