GPS disabled after BT install
Looking for any BTDT advice...had my local dealership install a BT module in my RNS-e equipped RS6. BT works fine but some how in the process they have disabled the RNS-e GPS receiver. In INFO mode or Engineering mode it shows 0 satellites. Also lost the street display from the instrument display panel. The tech claims to have not removed the RSN-e (he shouln't need to)and therefore not disturbed the antenna connection. Any suggestions welcomed!

Re: GPS disabled after BT install ===> SOLVED
Traded email with Lee Hicks (MR. NSXJR) who sold me the RSN-e and the BT kit. He suggested that the tech had somehow shorted the GPS lead at the Onstar end after he removed that module. Turns out there is a splitter mounted behind the old trunk mounted nav unit that splits the signal to the GPS and the Onstar. Disconnected the splitter and hardwired it directly to the RSN-e and all is well again! I suspect this probably improves the sensitivity of the GPS since the splitter would have attenuated the signal as much as 3dB.
Thanks all!!! |
