I was on a major hwy, yet Nav showed "off road." Re-starting did nothing, then
sorted itself out later on. Is that an issue of a satellite, or a prob with my nav?

I'd double check your reception of # of satellites, as well as your GALA speed signal
...if you are nto getting enough satellites, maybe you need to check the antenna connection, and location of the antenna "block." A local AWer who just relied on the magnet on the dash subframe had a similar issue, and it ended up being the antenna which had slipped down from the original location. If the same case here, secure with velcro or double-sided tape.

Oh yeah, the sharkfin :) Still may want to check your connections, and...
...click the lower left button for Nav-info and scroll to see a screen with your current position and the number of satellites.

New highway?
I live near a stretch of the I-210 that was completed a year ago. On the nav disk for my 2008 S4 it shows me driving in open fields.
The best part is when the voice starts telling me to make a U-turn!
