Default malfunctioning MMI screen and head-up illumination

I have a January 2018 Audi A5. Almost from the start at 2,700 miles, the head-up display in front of the driver (part of the driver assist package) loses its full illumination at random intervals from a few minutes to the rest of that journey. The vague detail of the unit can still be seen as long as the sun is not too bright, but it is practically useless until it returns. The MMI screen is set on auto, but is mostly dark even in bright daylight. It functions normally too, but only intermitterently. This is also random and appatently unconnected to the heads-up fault. My local Audi is baffled. They say its a glitch that cannot be corrected. Audi UK has arranged for me to visit another Audi dealer, but I'm not optimistic. Has anyone else experienced these faults? Thanks for any input. Bob Jobes.
