Motorola Car kit installation w/ factory Mic?

I followed the instructions from the tech from the tech forum on installing the Motorola Bluetooth kit. Great Writup! Everything works great except the factory mic. I can get it to work with the supplied mic, but would like to use the factory one.
Has anyone had any luck?<ul><li><a href="https://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec141.shtml">https://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec141.shtml</a</li></ul>

It does not really work that well...

I tried that before with limited success. Actually, the Motorola microphone previously mounted up near the sunroof controls of my car worked MUCH better than the OEM microphone tucked under the dome light.

I just used a stronger 3M tape (for body mouldings which is gray with red backing) and it held up just fine. Lots of folks commented that I did not sound like I was in my car.

Just run the wire up the A-pillar and to the location, with the wire tucked in under the dome light.

...Oh, and if you are interested in selling your OEM microphone, I am interested...

Thanks... I was hoping for a different answer, but...

Especially because I cut the wire to splice in to the harness... If I splice the shielded wire back together, will I loose quality?
Also, I used a length of Cat5 cable ('cause I have lots of them lying around) to extend my straight thru 25 pin cable, which worked great, because it has 8 wires, and I needed - 8!
My question is, will I have problems because of the twists?

I am not sure, but I suppose it is worth experimenting...

...from my experience, the OEM microphone seems VERY sensitive, maybe too good, so the Moto kit might not be equipped to filter out some of the ambient noise picked up from the OEM microphone. That might explain why previous attempts at this failed. If anything, try it out, but be ready to splice the original microphone and wire back together.

Remember, the OEM kit actually has some VAG COM adjustments availbale for microphone sensitivity, but only when paired up with the OEM BT kit.

Good luck, and definitely let us know how your experiment goes!

sensitivity adjustment is not my problem, I get...

no functionality using my OEM mic. I am pretty sure I hooked the wires correctly...
Thanks for your input, Boston Driver.

Comment on the installation

I ended up using the Motorola supplied Mic. I left the OEM mic where it was. Just a hint to anyone else trying to do this mod. Use CAT5 cable - remember the cables we used to network our computers - before WiFi?
They have 4 pairs of wires, which is exactly how many you need for this mod. I so far have not had any problems. I know nearly nothing about induction and magnatism, and thought that the twisted pairs may create a problem, but not at all, and you end up with a single wrapped bundle of wires, as long as you need them.
One caveat regarding the Motorola system, it does not allow me to voice program my T-Mobile Dash (Mfg by HTC?). So no voice dialing or answering. I can live with that though. Thanks for the great HowTo.
