El Paso, TX - need HELP PLEASE
Hello there. I'm new to this forum but I'm in desperate need of help and don't know where to turn so I hope one of you can help me. I have a 2006 A4 3.2 quattro and live in El Paso, TX. My Malfunction Indicator Lamp just came on and I have no idea where I can take my vehicle to have it checked out. I was told I had to go to New Mexico (4 hours away), but reading my Manual, it looks like I shouldn't even be driving my vehicle right now. Can anyone tell me if there is a place closer to me where I can take my vehicle or do you have any advice on what I should do. Thank you.

You have a check engine light? Is it in warranty?
Volkswagen dealership should be able to read the error code and find the error.
Check all your fluid levels, temperatures.
If the car starts up and doesn't make crazy noises its probably an O2 sensor or something like that. Mileage on the car?

Re: You have a check engine light? Is it in warranty?
It has a little over 25000 miles and is still under warranty. In my manual it states "The warning light illuminates when there is a malfunction in the engine electronic system. Contact your authorized Audi dealer and have the malfunction corrected." Unfortunately, I have no idea who to contact besides the dealer in Albuquerque, NM, which is about 4 hours from El Paso. Do you know a place that can help me closer to El Paso? Thanks.

Exactly. Volkswagen owns Audi. Since your car is in warranty take it to a VW dealership
Hopefully they'll be cool and can hookup a VagCOM to the Car and get the error code. Then call your Alburqurque dealership and see if they'll either authorize VW to fix the problem if its simple or you might have to be given a VW loaner or something, who knows.
Its likely to be an O2 sensor or possibly even just a misfire.

Thank you all very much for your help. I will go to the VW dealership today and find out if they can help. Diana

While not a rule
if the lamp is on solid it's likely something to do with the emissions system and it is driveable. If the lamp is flashing, do not drive the car. Call Audi Roadside Assistance and they will talk to Audi about where the car should be towed to.
