My stealer was replacing my prematurely failed water pump (for free) and the service writer decided to look in my glove box. He pulled too hard and the latch mechanism fell on the floor. I've done this myself once before. The latch is just press fit and can become a little loose with age of the surrounding plastic. I fixed it in 2 minutes. The stealer decided it wass their fault and replaced without asking me for free(I'm out of Audi warranty). They tell me it is an $1100 part!!!! I'm now melting the new latch because it must be made of solid gold or platinum

That's the real question I'd be asking them. It's kinda' like expecting the maid to not go through your underware drawer in the hotel.

My service manual is in the door pocket in plain view and I've never seen a notation in it from the dealer.
