Default 1.8 turbo cam timing question

.. this is driving me nut..i have done lots of cam work.. alfa romeo's honda twinn cams....i just did a 1.8 head 5 valve per cly..i set up the cam timing as per alldata..and a vw site( same motor) from my alfa romeo work when you put the no.1 top dead centre.. the lobes on the no.1 cly cams.. are pointed away from each other...i set the vw cams up . as i said... alldata.. and 16 pin count on the chain.. but the lobes on the no.1 cam/ cly. point to each other.. i tryed ever witch way.. but allways ended up the same way,,on the lobes on no.4 cly. they are pointed away from each other.. and the cam timing mark line up right 16 pin count..am i wrong in my thinking about the no.1 lobes pointeng away from each other as in all my alfa romeo twinn cams? or is this nomal for 1.8 turbo motors? thanks..i did turn the motor over by hand 3 revs.. all ok..i just do nt want to start the car, untill i get some feedback here.. any help??? thanm\ks
