Default 2001 TT - Air Conditioner blowing full blast, but air is hot...

Hi,
Wondered if anyone has run into trouble with the air conditioner suddenly blowing hot air.
The coolant is full and has been checked.
Yesterday my garage referred me to the Audi dealer for an estimate. I'm not a car 'chick' so I can't do any of this myself. I did check the fuses tho and they all checked out okay.

My gut is telling me this is going to cost a butt load of money and just when I was thinking of selling. I really won't enjoy the car tho if I don't have air, so I don't know what to do.
I do have 80K miles and I'm no longer under warranty.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm going to the dealer (Fairfield, CT) for my $112 estimate tomorrow morning. Thanks!!

Default Are you CPO ?????>>>

if not, do not go to the dealer...take it to Fairfield County Motorsport....they are excellent...
They are right next to the train station and have worked on several cars here including mine.

Ask for Don or Drew, and tell them Hans sent you..I live in Fairfield and know them well..plus they are a sponsor for TT-East and have in interest in TT's!!!

Have you checked the fuse block on top of the battery??? Corrosion there can be a problem...also green temp sensor is a possibility..

Good luck and email me if i can help...

Check the thermistor or Fan Control Module: relatively modest repair.

Thanks Hans. I just spoke with Drew at Fairfield County Motorsport. He's booked solid until next week, but he did take the time to talk w/ me and thinks I'm okay going to the dealer for the diagnostic, as he'd basically do the same thing.
I just like to have some idea of what it possibly could be before I go in so they don't talk 'greek' to me. I really hope it is something small, but my gut keeps telling me it's going to be a lot of cash. Maybe my gut will be wrong this time!

Thanks again and I'll let you know what they say tomorrow.

Default Mine does this occasionally still. Had it recharged under warranty two weeks ago...

works most of the time but once every so often it will turn the compressor off and just blow hot air, only does it when sitting at a light or still in the driveway. If I'm moving it does not happen.

I have a 2000 TTC, and my AC went out 2 months ago. I had a new compressor, clutch, dryer, valve compression, recharge and freon installed. About $1800 for parts and labor.
