Default 2001 wheels better than 2000? 409 cleaner?

I have a 2000K 180TT. Like a lazy bum in the winter, I took it thru a carwash an scratched the one of the wheels. Agggh.. I really like the new wheels on the 2001 models. Do any you 2001 owners have similiar problems with the wheelbase sticking out from the body? I am contemplating getting a new set of wheels.

Also, I tried cleaning the wheels with 409, but they now have a cloudy appearance in some spots. Any fix for this? I am guessing that the clearcoat reacted with the 409.

Default I've done that to wheels in the past, not with 409, but with other stuff

I think you'll likely need to get the wheels refinished somewhere to get the shine back. Obviously not a problem if you get new wheels, though.

Oh yeah....never EVER take your TT to a car wash again!!

Default Yes, they stick out. You need to be very careful about carwashes

I've taken mine to a local place about three times and have had no issues however I was careful to check out their process and system ahead of time. They have hard plastic covers on their wheel guide so while the outer lip of the forged alloy rubs sometimes, it causes no damage. The other thing you have to watch for is not letting them touch the car before and after. Wipe it off yourself.

Honda spray polish works pretty well, it's sold in motorcycle shops.
