2002 Audi A4 vs. BMW 330i vs. Jaguar X-Type 3.0
Hey all...
We're looking to replace our 2000 Nissan Maxima, and have narrowed our choices down to the cars in the subject line. We've test-driven all three (in 5 and 6-speed manual versions), and here are our basic impressions:
X-Type: feels a little underpowered, but very forgiving clutch. Handling is okay. Dealer is nice. Price is right for available features.
330i: nice power, but the clutch rides very high. Handling is good to excellent. Dealers are all *******s, every one of them. Price is a little high relative to the available features.
A4 3.0: nice power, very forgiving clutch. Handling is good to excellent (but it's not exactly my TT). Dealer is great. Price is right for available features.
From all of this, it sounds like the A4 is the winner. But I'm afraid I may be missing something. If you guys have any thoughts, input, etc. on which way to go, I'd appreciate it.

Noooo! on the Jaguar and the 330.
Buy the A4. The Jaguar is way underpowered for the pricetag, and underneath all that sheet metal is a Ford Mondeo!
I wouldn't get the BMW for the sheer fact that they're EVERYWHERE. It's like I can't escape them! My girlfriend has one, and want to get rid of it because it's so common.
The A4 is new, cheaper, and best of all, it's an Audi.

Um - try Mondeo and believe it or not the guy who did that platform is working for VW on the MKV
platform from which the new TT will be spawned. The mondeo/focus chassis has been highly praised in the UK and Europe. More so than any VAG product. So now Audi stole away the chassis dynamics guy from BMW and VW steals away the chassis designer from Ford. If you can't beat em..........
