Default 2002 TT Purchase Advice

Hello,
I've done a fair bit of searching already but could use some help getting up to speed on the TT. I've been a VAG owner a number of times over the years and currently own a VW Touareg and a 944 so I am pretty familiar with the brand and German cars in general. My favorite youngest son (17) is looking to buy his first car and has his eye on an 2002 TT Q Coupe with a 1.8T, ~130k miles, 5 speed with Leather. Planning to take a look at it tomorrow afternoon so I could really use some knowledgeable insight. Buyer indicates it has the usual gauge problems which is something I am comfortable repairing but was there a recall on this issue? I assume the engine it is an interference design since people are concerned about belt change intervals. What is the recommended mileage interval? I've read everything from 75 to 105K. If it needs a timing belt is it recommended to change the water pump while I am in there? What other weak spots or commond problems does the 2002 TT have? Any information provided is greatly appreciated.

Finally what is the market value on these MK1 coupes with this number of miles? From the pics it appears to be in very good condition and has been stored winters (important here in the rust belt).

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Greg

Read my post in "badly bought TT" thread below. Recommended TB interval is 5 years or 60Kmiles and change everything.
