Default 2nd Cylinder misfire with Check engine light

FYI I had this problem with my 2001 TT Quattro 225hp with 113k miles, and reviewed threads here. Fast acceleration had become impossible but I could drive with light acceleration. Had code read at local autozone free. I found no broken plugs but clean oil in the spark plug well for cylinder number two (counting from left facing engine). It appears that the local oil change spot spilled enough oil to get into the well and cause a problem. A local mechanic happened to look on while I had the coil packs out and stated there should be some type of seal or gasket between the bottom of the coil pack and cylinder head. Any one know if this is true.
I cleaned out plug wells and applied no stick and anti short compound to each plug and coilpack boot but no gasket or seal to the coil packs and am running fast and normally using Denso iridium plugs. Prior spark plug changes were by the dealer.
