The 42DD downpipe is now in. Sounds great and more oomph per the butt dyno.
Install was done by CPT. Too much hassle to try on my own with no lift.
They fabricated a nice transition between the cat and the BlueFlame cat-back exhaust. That's 3 inch --> 2.75 inch. The downpipe came from Lowcountry's roadster after he went big turbo. The O2 spacer was donated by CoasTTal. Thanks, guys. The only issue with the install is that the flex joint would rub on this roadster-only sub frame bracket when starting off. Al at CPT warned me about this. It actually started to chew flex joint strands during the test drive. Despite having a poly dog bone bushing, the engine still moved back enough to hit the bracket. He suggested trimming the bracket, which I did last night. Rub issue is gone today. Since downpipe install requires dropping the subframe, an alignment was done. That is when we discovered that the full KMACs would not allow enough adjustment to set toe to zero on the left side. After seeing SparTTan's broken OEM LCA last winter, the decision to get two pairs of CPT arms was much easier to make. That, plus an economic stimulus rebate check. |
Nice work!

Sounds like lots of fun. You need to make a trip to the deep south.
