ABS and ESP warning lights on again.....
 

After two weeks of no errors it happened again today on my drive in to work! Both indicators lit up. Pulled car over and turned off ignition and everything was ok for about 5 mins.
any ideas? The problem only occured after a new cluster was installed 3 weeks ago....
Can't Vag it as I've no access at the moment so I'm not sure if its just an erronious voltage in the tripping the sensor or I really have no ABS or traction control??

Need VAG to read codes, possibly bad sensor somewhere in the system.

Could my local VW dealership read the codes?? I wonder how much they charge.......

Yes, VW dealer can read or you can go to your local tuner shop.

you'll have to read the codes while the lights are still on...
 

otherwise it will clear when you turn the car off. When the lights are on, both of those systems are off. So keep that in mind.

lateral or longitudinal accelerator sensors can cause that. If either fail, this...
 

would happen. I don't have ESP on my car, so the ABS light would come on. Then, after stopping and restarting, it would go away. Only to come back several miles later. But if it is either of those, the computer typically doesn't capture the codes. Mine didn't. I had to suggest it to the dealer and they checked them...lo' and behold, that was the problem. BTW, the suggestion came from this board!!! yay.

My lateral accel. sensor started to go bad and ESP light would come on after 20 min. of driving.
 

Now ESP light is on all the time. I've removed it and will order a replacement. My TT is an '01 and the sensor is located under driver-side dash(just to the right of steering column).

As a test, I removed the longitudinal accel. sensor(located behind the glove box). Doing this caused the ABS light to come on. I put it back and the ABS light switched off again.

I think I was quoted a price of $121.00 for lateral Accel. sensor. Dealer also estimated 1.5 hours to install; which is total BS.

Is it easy to access these two sensors? Are they just plug and play parts..
 

I've got Audi assured warranty coverage but not sure if these sensors are powertrain related!!

You have to remove the glovebox for one and the lower dash for the other.
 

other than that, they have your typical connector and a screw to mount them.
