Default after run coolant pump

I see that there is a recall for this pump. How does this affect the car?

In fact, this is the first post I have seen about this pump on any of the three Mk 1 forums I follow in the past 5 years. Obviously, it helps the turbo bearings cool down. However, the original 180 hp engines did not have it. My 2001 180 did not have it, my 2004 180 did. If yours is broken, you can minimize the effect by letting your TT idle before you turn it off.

Call your local Audi dealer and ask them.
The usual failure mode is the pump halves desperate at the ultrasonic weld seam causing a catastrophic coolant leak.
