Default AHHH!! Fuel gauge freakin out on me!!

I was running pretty low on gas today, so I was looking at it all day to see if I was going to run out soon... It has been reading 1/4 tank the past two day but that was about 40 miles and the "miles left" also read 70 for the past few days... Well, comming up to a stop sign today I notice that when I put my blinker on that the gas gauge would go up, down, up, down, up, up, up, down, down, up... In sync with the blinker... Then after that, it read half a tank for the rest of the day till I got a full tank of gas... All is good now.... This is the first it has happened... Any ideas? Sounds like a fuel sending unit problem to me but I want to get 2nd opinions...

Default Could be a problem or not. Mine has acted flukie a number of times. I even

took it in to have it checked and nothing. So, now I just hit the reset on the trip odo so I know exactly how many miles I go on a tank.
