Aiming headlights
OK - I've tried a search and there's lots of info on manual adjustment with the screws and adjustment with the VAG tool, but I'm not clear on the difference. Does the VAG simply allow synchronized and more accurate adjustment?
I've had the headlights adjusted manually upwards for several months now with better visibility, and oncoming traffic has not been flashing me.

Three ways to adjust headlights...>>
First is the actual mounting using the two mount points on top and the third behind the grill. This is really intended to align the headlight unit with the body panels. It will of course make a difference in where the light shines.
You only get to adjust the main lamp electronically if you have that system. In that type of system, the three adjustment screws on the top of the housing are for the high beams up/down, left/right and the fog lights up/down.
So you have to start with aesthetic, then the electronic adjust, then the high beam and fog manual adjustments.
