Aircon refrigerant

Aircon refrigerant
Does anyone know what type of refrigerant is used to gas-up the aircon? I've been told from Audi that its G12, but i thought that was a type of engine coolant.

so you just refill this with one of those can from autozone that has all the oil, leaks, gas? i
read the sticker and it said the A/C has to be serviced by audi dealer? i thought it's strange and not sure if it's really neccessary. anyway, who here refill their gas already? mine is still cold but i'm interested in knowing the how-to and correct parts.
thank you

A/C 101 -->
The A/C system is sealed and should not require periodic "re-fills". You have a leak. Using an off the shelf leak sealer will reduce the efficiency of the system. You can certainly try but the correct fix is to find the leak and repair it.
You can also overfill A/C systems unless you measure at least the low side pressure in a certain condition state. The A/C system is designed to run with a certain amount of refrigerant. On either side you will reduce efficiency or cause compressor failure or system failure from too high a pressure.
Of course if you have a leak and want to buy R134a and just keep refilling that's certainly possible. Eventually the oil will empty from the system through the leak and you'll be replacing the compressor. Kinda your choice.
Don't forget you'll simply be guessing as to the level of fill.
Go find a local A/C tech (doesn't have to be Audi) and have them test the pressures and find the leak. Those are easy and cheap to do.
