Anybody read the article in Car (UK) magazine ...
...about the guy who's blaming Audi and the TT instability for his crash even though he was doing 91mph in a 60mph zone? What get's me is the Police didn't prosecute.
It said that the guy was an experienced driver having owned a Ford Cosworth for 4 years. Pah! The fact that he crashed after only 10 miles of ownership says to me he wasn't experienced enough with the TT. How many drivers can honestly say that even with experience going to a totally new car and driving experience that after 10 miles they are "competent" and know and can predict the complete character of a car.
IMHO

And also in my experience estimated speeds are usually on the low side. Coupled with brakes that are "sharp" in a panic situation ("found himself faced with oncoming traffic") brand new tyres and handling that is somewhat different to an Escort Cosworth, I'm not suprised he had an accident.
I used to own a Caterham 7 which is widely acknowledged as a superbly handling car, but given the right set of circumstances (heavy right foot, cornering etc.) the back end would whip around in the blink of an eye. Nobody, but nobody has called cars like these (TVR's, Caterhams and anything with a lot of power) dangerous. Personally I think it's over reaction on the part of the press and indeed Audi.
If they try to force the spoiler on my car I shall be talking to my solicitor as surely this is no-longer a "voluntary recall".
Paul.
