Anyone able to play CD-Rs in the changer?
I tried my first CD-R in the changer today (not the first CD-R i've created, the first CD-R i've tried in the TT changer). Got "error 1" or whatever that means scratched/dirty disc according to the manual.
CD-R is a maxell, single session disc using my usual software tools. I haven't tested the disc in another CD player yet to veryify that the disc is OK, but I wanted to ask the question anyway: has anyone been able to play CD-Rs in the TT (2001 225hp Coupe if it matters) changer?
Anyone have any specific tips on brands? I've always used Maxell, had no problem with them in most of my players.
thanks!

First make sure it is not upside down. This is even easier to do with a recorded CD-R as there is no label. All players should play CD-R's but not necessarly CD-RW's. Even on my 10 year old Talon CD-R's play just fine.

I only play CDRs in my changer...
...I make copies of CDs that I want to have in my car since I'm always paranoid about having my originals stolen again. I've never had any problems with any of them playing in it, but I guess it could be that you need to close the session on your disc. I believe a lot of audio CD players have problems with CDRs if the session is not closed. I make all my CDs with CDRWin, and always make sure the "Open New Session" is unchecked.

Yes...plays CD-Rs....
Our pro audio studio uses CD-Manufacturer-Branded CD-Rs exclusively (that would disqualify Maxell for our studio as Maxell does not manufacture CDs). Red-book specs, recorded no faster than 4-1 for ultimate longevity and interchangability.

I use a cd stomper to label them-----
The ones I usually buy have writing on the one side, the ones I got the other day don't.Anyway after ages of trying to find out why it hadn't recorded, planned ravings at pc world etc, I then discovered I had put the label on the wrong side!!!!!

No problems here. I only use Kodak Gold Ultima media.
I recently read a thread on Hometheaterforum (yes, like this one, it covers topics other than home theater) and the pros recommended Kodak Gold Ultima (NOT Kodak Gold, two different things) or Mitsui green. Verbatim, Memorex and Maxell were hated.
I have NEVER had a Kodak GOld Ultima not burn correctly unless I clearly made the mistake. This was at 8x record every time. I have 3 of them in my changer right now.
Advice about closed sessions is probably correct.
